Viral Video: Huey, Dewey and Louie learn about inflation
As the financial crisis deepens, this classic piece of viral humour has been updated and is doing the rounds again.
Donald Duck's three nephews learned a valuable lesson about the economy after getting their hands on a multiphonic duplicator which can create a copy of anything. It turns one dollar into two, and before you can say "rampant inflation" the whole town is awash with cheap money. But only wise old Uncle Scrooge can see the dangers ahead, warning that "I dinne trust any dollar I have ne earned."
With the buying power of the dollar now down by 96% since the Federal Reserve was created in 1913, some critics claim that it has already adopted a Mickey Mouse attitude to fiscal responsibility. Maybe Barack Obama should get in the spirit of the occasion and appoint Uncle Scrooge to the Fed.
