Edward L. Yingling é presidente da Associação dos Banqueiros Americanos.
Ele acha que o socorro financeiro vai passar no Congresso. Agora ele dizer que foi um teste no mercado, isto é terrível. Bom, o mercado fez sua parte, bolsas azedaram pelo mundo inteiro, sem deixar margem para dúvidas.
Agora só temos de esperar passar o feriado judaico amanhã, vai pra votação de novo, depois vai pra mesa do presidente até o final da semana.
Acho que os americanos gostaram desta coisa de trabalhar todo fim-de-semana. Vai ser praticamente o quarto final de semana seguido que as autoridades americanas vão trabalhar, seja negociando resgate a Fannie Mae, seja buscando resgate para bancos com problema.
Mas mesmo que o pacote passe, duvido que o preço das ações se recupere totalmente no curto prazo. Quem perdeu, vai ter de esperar um bocado para recuperar seu rico dinheirinho.
Mr. Yingling remains optimistic that a measure will pass, and soon. “There’s an excellent chance it will pass after the holiday and would be on the President’s desk by the end of the week.”
Part of the reason for this is the strong reaction in markets throughout the globe. “Maybe there had to be a market test,’’ said Mr. Yingling, “that might determine it.”
Even so, Mr. Yingling said that the feeling in Washington is the same as on Wall Street: “Everyone is so shell-shocked – they don’t know where anything is going.”
